A CELEBRATION OF CREATIVITY: 'ON THE TRAIL' EXHIBITION

Last Thursday evening, the coastal town of Anglesea came alive with colour, connection, and creativity for the opening of ‘On the Trail: A Creative Taster’ — the official launch exhibition for the 2025 Surf Coast Arts Trail.

Held at the Anglesea Art Space, the event welcomed an enthusiastic crowd of approximately 70 guests, including Surf Coast Shire Councillors and Mayor Cr Mike Bodsworth, who shared a few thoughtful words during the evening’s speeches.

Each artist was invited to contribute just one piece of work for the show, offering a taste of what’s to come in the full Arts Trail. Among the standout pieces on display was Tal Lemmens’ internationally recognised seascape photograph, “Apex” — a moody, powerful image that has captured attention around the world and continues to resonate with local audiences.

With light refreshments in hand and the gallery buzzing with conversation, the evening celebrated not just the art on the walls, but the community that brings it all to life. Guests had the opportunity to meet artists, connect with fellow creatives, and start mapping out their Trail weekend for August.

Tal would like to thank everyone who came along to show their support, and extend a special thanks to the Surf Coast Shire and the Arts Trail team, Michelle and Bridget for bringing together such a vibrant and meaningful event.

If you missed the launch, the exhibition remains open at Anglesea Art Space, offering the perfect chance to preview this year’s lineup of artists before the full Trail kicks off.
