‘Tales of the Sea’ Exhibition – VIP Opening Night Sells Out

A sell-out crowd filled the Torquay Wine Store on opening night of ‘Tales of the Sea’, the latest solo exhibition by Tal Lemmens. Held on 15 June 2023, the exclusive VIP event marked the launch of Tal’s newest showcase — a refined curation of standout seascapes from the past five years of his photographic journey.

The collection pays homage to fractal moments witnessed while immersed in the ocean, celebrating the power and mood of coastal waters along the Great Ocean Road, the South Coast of New South Wales, and the Great Australian Bight. Each piece reflects the raw, sculptural beauty of nature, rendered in Tal’s signature fine art seascape style.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Mick and Sarah from the Torquay Wine Store, who’ve long supported my work,” says Tal. “It’s an honour to be the inaugural artist in their new initiative, The Artist’s Series — blending boutique wines from around the world with local Surf Coast art.”

All artworks on display are available for acquisition. Interested collectors are encouraged to get in touch with Tal directlyto purchase a piece from the exhibition.

The two-week exhibition (15–29 June) runs during the Torquay Wine Store’s regular trading hours.

Captured beautifully by Cam Watts Photo, the event attracted media attention from both Surf Coast Times and Forte Magazine, recognising Tal’s growing influence in the fine art ocean photography space. The evening was enriched by live music from Suneden, craft beers from Bells Beach Brewing, and a curated spread of artisanal cheeses and charcuterie.
